No. Your model and translations never leave the machine. The only outbound requests are license activation at purchase (and a re-issue on each renewal) and an optional update-manifest check at startup. Both are auditable and both can be turned off in Settings for a zero-network process.

Yes. Beyond the underlying data model, Daxlate translates the text on the report canvas itself: visual titles and subtitles, slicer and visual headers, button labels, and text boxes. So the page reads in your reader's language from top to bottom, not just the field names.

Yes. When you translate a report, Daxlate generates a language table. Drop its Language field onto a slicer and anyone viewing the report can switch it between languages right on the page, with nothing to republish.

No. Daxlate opens .pbix / .pbit files on disk, and a .pbix containing a data model is saved as a sibling .pbit, so the original .pbix is left untouched. There is no in-place rewrite of the source .pbix.

Daxlate ships as a self-contained x64 MSI with the .NET 10 runtime bundled, so there is nothing to install separately. The MSI can be deployed via Intune or SCCM and runs per-user without admin rights once delivered. Air-gap friendly: disable the update check in Settings and the only outbound network call is license activation at purchase.

Yes. Daxlate exports to XLSX or CSV, with one file holding every culture as separate columns. Re-importing previews the diff in a dialog so you see exactly what will change before you confirm. A blank cell means "not translated yet" and is left untouched on import, so a half-finished file never wipes the translations a translator has not reached. To remove a translation, clear it in the grid or drop the language from the Cultures dropdown.

Yes. Tick "Open in read-only mode" on the Welcome screen. It disables Save, Discard, culture add/remove, and undo/redo. Use it for governance reviews, audit walkthroughs, or showing a model to a stakeholder without risk of an accidental write.
